🏠 Why We’re Coming Together

Like many of you, I’ve raised a family in Walker’s Lake and care deeply about how our neighborhood is run. In recent months, the HOA has taken a direction that feels unrecognizable—and, frankly, has gone too far. Without homeowner input, CMGT was hired as our management company, and their overbearing approach has created frustration and confusion throughout the community.

We cannot even secure a conversation with our own board members, nor do we have any meaningful say in how we’re managed. Meanwhile, the board’s priorities appear misaligned—white mailbox replacements and decorative flowerbeds have taken precedence over critical issues such as neighborhood safety, proper drainage, and fiscal responsibility. It is neither appropriate nor sustainable for a vendor to profit from enforcement activities that rightly belong to our elected representatives, yet a significant portion of our budget is being funneled into CMGT for tasks the board itself should perform.

This effort isn’t about one isolated decision. It’s about restoring transparency, open communication, and genuine representation in our community. Let’s come together, reclaim our voice, and chart a course that reflects the priorities of every Walker’s Lake resident.

⚖️ What Can We Do?

Despite multiple attempts to engage with the HOA board, I have yet to receive any response. I have thoroughly reviewed our governing documents, consulted with two independent attorneys—most recently, one who drafted a proxy vote document for me to circulate among neighbors, which is our legal method of collecting homeowners’ votes to remove the current board members—and spoken with many of my fellow homeowners, who have personally voiced their frustration with the situation as well.

We need a more cost-effective management solution—one that does not financially reward enforcement at the expense of our community. The only way to achieve this is by electing board members who truly prioritize our neighbors’ interests and are prepared to replace, remove, or significantly reduce CMGT’s role in managing Walker’s Lake. Only with a board committed to fiscal responsibility and community wellbeing can we secure the leadership our neighborhood deserves.

✊ Take Action

In the Walker's Lake Home Owners Association Covenants and Restrictions under Article 5.02 titled "Board of Directors," Section E "Removal" states:

"Any member of the Board, or the entire Board, may be removed from office with or without cause by a majority vote of the Members of the Association. In the event of death, resignation, or removal of a member of the Board, a successor shall be selected by the remaining members of the Board and shall serve for the unexpired term of his predecessor. However, the Board may in its discretion leave such position vacant until the next annual meeting of the Association as long as there are at least three (3) members on the Board at all times."

For the past twenty years, I’ve owned and operated a custom software development firm, guiding clients from concept through delivery of tailored solutions. Born and raised in Lafayette, I graduated from Lafayette High School in 1999 and earned my B.S. in Computer Science from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette in 2003.
